Future Makers: Repurposing Waste Plastic
Future Makers is a new art & design studio in Nottingham for circular economy-based collaborations & innovations, events, markets, workshops & exhibitions.
Founded by Tristan Hessing, with support from specialists in the development of sustainable homes and workspaces Blueprint, Future Makers is a creative incubator occupying a 9,000 sq. ft. industrial unit in Nottingham.
In collaboration with Near Now, Tristan is exploring how waste plastics can be recycled, reused and repurposed into new materials for art & design projects, products and services for the creative industries.
Over the past few months we have been conducting initial research and development activity as we begin to approach the challenge of establishing a new circular economy manufacturing capacity for Nottingham.
Launching soon, our Near Now Fellowship will offer tailored support for an artist/s to join the project, working with us to further the R&D and build a collaborative community of artists, makers, and creative businesses who will help to develop and test the facility and prototype new projects.
In this talk, Tristan will share more information about Future Makers and how you can get involved.
Near Now Ideas Fund
Our Near Now Ideas Fund aims to support early stage research and development, helping creatives to get their new ideas for projects off the ground.
Earlier this year we awarded ten Midlands-based artists/creatives small grants to support R&D activity, challenging them to progress their ideas through learning, playing, prototyping and testing.
We'll be joined by some of the award recipients who'll share details about their recent work. Learn about all of the projects that were supported in round one of the Ideas Fund, and find out more about the upcoming round two — opening soon!
