Join the Near Now Studio for free use of Broadway's creative spaces and a programme of events for testing ideas, developing skills, sharing work and exploring new collaborations.

Studio Members

Our Studio currently includes visual, digital, sound and performance artists, choreographers/dancers, sound designers/composers, theatre makers, environmental scientists and other creatives who are exploring the use of technology in their practice.

Studio Members are welcome to use Broadway's creative spaces for co-working and skill-sharing to support the research and development of new ideas and collaborative projects.

This includes:

  • Free desk space and use of a project space in our studios at Broadway, Nottingham.
  • A programme of regular workshops, talks, demonstrations and other skills development activities.
  • A creative producer on-hand to give advice, facilitate collaborations and support the sharing of work.
  • Opportunities to exhibit work at Broadway.
  • Discounted hire of Broadway spaces.
  • Discounted food and drink from Broadway's Cafébars.
  • Free tea, coffee and wi-fi.

The Near Now Studio is for creative practitioners based in and around Nottingham who are looking to explore the use of technology in their practice.

You should join if you are open to collaboration with fellow studio members, looking for space and support to research and develop your new projects, and inspired by the use of emerging technologies in your work.

What's expected of Studio Members?

  • Studio Members will be expected to actively work on the development of ideas and projects inspired and enabled by technology.
  • You should be open to collaboration, criticism and skill-sharing.
  • Be respectful to other Studio Members, Broadway staff and members of the public.
  • Attend a Studio co-working session, event, or other activity at least once a month.
  • Take part in annual feedback and review activities.

Events programme

We aim for all events programming to be free for Studio Members to attend. However, depending on the nature of the activity and if any additional materials or equipment are needed, a small fee may be payable.

Studio Members will be encouraged and supported to propose and deliver their own skill-sharing activities, such as workshops, talks or discussions.

Events may also be open to the public to attend for a small fee.

Community

We particularly welcome and encourage expressions of interest from practitioners with diverse experiences, perspectives and backgrounds which are essential for innovation to thrive and for new ideas to emerge.
