About Andreea Pislaru

Andreea is a Romanian artist based in Birmingham and Nottingham. Andreea’s practice explores the grotesque and its cultural associations with the flesh and the feminine by deconstructing the body as a means of transgression. Using absurd humour, her work plays with the biological structure of the human form by shifting conventional parameters. Investigating contemporary gender power structures and forms of entertainment, Andreea sculpts new, reformulated identities. As a curator, she is running the exhibition and residency programmes at Round Lemon, an art organisation supporting creative communities.
