Join Near Now Fellows Studio Above&Below for this free workshop for 15–25 year olds.
In collaboration with Nottingham Contemporary's 1525 Collective, this workshop with Near Now Fellows Studio Above&Below will introduce participants to ideas of critical making and producing with Augmented and Mixed Reality tools, in order to introduce shifts of perceptions of ‘technology’ in a post-capitalist world. Topics of investigation will include augmented digital time capsules, technology to connect with digital and physical natures, in order to subvert and spark new connections between our understanding of how we live with emerging technology and extended reality tools.
No prior technical skills are required - this workshop aims for all participants to step away with new skill sets for understanding uses for augmented reality, games engines and express critically about the technologies in the future.
Download links to assets will be sent out prior to workshop.

Nottingham Contemporary's Future of Futures is an immersive year-long research, engagement and artistic project led by young people. Borrowing from sci-fi as well as role play and scenario planning techniques, our project will be set’ in a future version of Nottingham at the end of the 21st century, to collectively reimagine the role of culture and our gallery.
This project is supported by The Weston Culture Fund and The Foyle Foundation.
