Join us for the launch of a series of events exploring the making of live immersive art and multimedia experiences.

In this keynote talk, Immersive Theatre specialist and co-founder of the Immersive Experience Network Dr Joanna Bucknall will give insights into the growing immersive and interactive experiences sector.

The live immersive experience sector has undergone extraordinary growth over the last 10 years as creative companies have developed interactive experience concepts from fringe experiments to global companies with multi-million pound turnovers.

Immersive Experience Network

The Immersive Experience Network (IEN) is being set up as a catalyst to support creators making new work, developing new audiences and growing financially sustainable creative companies.

Speakers

Dr Joanna Bucknall is a performance maker and scholar. She is a lecturer at the University of Birmingham in the department for Drama & Theatre Arts. Joanna is the producer/host of the podcast series Talking About Immersive Theatre (TAIT) and the artistic director of Vertical Exchange Performance Collective (VEX). Joanna is co-founder of the Immersive Experience Network (IEN). Joanna has been the Principal Investigator for AHRC and ESRC-funded projects and recently published 'Talking About Immersive Theatre: conversations on immersions and interactivities in performance' with Bloomsbury. Joanna makes, supports, and writes about work that includes its audiences in fundamental ways.

This event is supported by University of Nottingham's Virtual and Immersive Production Studio (VIP Studio). A specialist production facility to incubate innovation in film, TV and performance arts production and audience engagement.

The VIP Studio enables collaborative research and experimentation through to commercialisation, drawing on multidisciplinary collaborations across Arts and Computer Science.
