Near Now is Broadway's studio for arts, design and innovation. We work with artists to make, and make sense of, technology in everyday life.

We are proud to invite applications for the third iteration of the Near Now Fellowship, our artistic and professional development programme which, through curiosity and discovery, helps pioneers to research and realise bold ideas.

The Near Now Fellowship is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

Who is this for?

The Near Now Fellowship is aimed at emerging to mid-career artists. Near Now Fellows will display exceptional artistic talent, with work influenced by art, design and technology theory and praxis grounded in contemporary culture. Fellows will critically reflect on their work and have a desire to challenge their practice and push their career forward.

Applications are invited from artists, working in any art form, who use technology in their practice and/or explore the place and impact of technology in everyday life.

Three Near Now Fellows will be selected, at least one of whom will be an artist using screen-based technology in their practice. The Near Now Fellowship is a national programme open to artists based anywhere in England. We aim to select at least one artist based in the Midlands and all Fellows should be committed to producing and presenting work in the Midlands.

Broadway values the creative case for diversity in the arts. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from artists with diverse experiences, perspectives and backgrounds which are essential for innovation to thrive and for new ideas to emerge.

What's on offer?

Over the ten month programme, three selected Fellows will receive support to originate and publicly present work that is bold in its scope, rigorous in its practice and open to critique.

Each Near Now Fellow will receive investment of up to £15k in support of their work.
